Caravaggio – From reality to the painting was born with the intent to clone in photography the great masterpieces of the Milanese artist Michelangelo Merisi, called Caravaggio.
The project, born on the initiative of prof. archt. Marcello Scalzo of the University of Florence, is based on the creation of photos and videos reproducing famous paintings of the Italian history of art: from the dinner of Emmaus to David with the head of Goliath, from San Gerolamo to Maddalena.
Using the tools offered by the video and multimedia laboratory for design and architecture of the University of Florence (Lab Vi.D.A.), we took part to the initiative by taking the photographs, by working on costumes and lights, by studying the preparation and make-up of many of those characters who, thanks to the project, have come back to life even outside the canvases.
